Rick William Bassett, MD
Dr. Rick W. Bassett is the senior partner of a two surgeon independent group in the rural South Texas community of Harlingen. He was a resident at the Mayo Clinic and received a Master of Orthopedic Biomechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Bassett serves as Director of Orthopedic Surgery for Valley Baptist Medical Center and was elected to the faculty of the University of Texas Regional Academic Center in Harlingen, Texas. Dr. Bassett is known for joint replacement surgery and his pioneering work in prosthetic design. He currently holds the patent on several of the most popular knee and hip implants and has performed nearly 10,000 joint replacements in his career. He regularly speaks on the subject of joint replacement techniques and prosthetic devices to local, national and international groups. Dr. Bassett's other special areas of interests are total joint revision and reconstructive techniques of the hip and knee.
